10CM

Kwon Jeong-yeol. Based in South Korea, 10CM has become one of the most distinctive voices in acoustic and indie music. Not just a singer-songwriter, but a genre unto himself. With a voice that instinctively captures the rawest of emotions, he has crafted a sound that is as intuitive as it is tender, as soft as it is unapologeticaly honest.

Since his debut in 2010, 10CM has redefined acoustic pop in Korea with his blend of lyrical sincerity, stripped-back melodies, and ever-evolving arrangements. His music oscilates between the poetic stilness of folk and the free spirit of indie, delivering moments that feel deeply personal yet universaly understood. Whether whispered or shouted, his words carry the weight of truth — and in their simplicity, they resonate.

10CM’s musical world is one shaped by emotion and marked by evolution. While remaining true to the essence of acoustic storyteling, he continues to reinvent his sound, exploring new textures and perspectives. In every moment, he crafts music that is unmistakably his — honest, heartfelt, and timeless.

5.0

From the aggressive guitar intro of “Nothing’s Going On,” which opens 5.0, it is clear that this album represents a new chapter for 10CM. 10CM’s sharp, bright voice remains unmistakable, channeling everyday frustrations with a refreshing new energy. The track begins as folk rock reminiscent of 10CM’s debut era, before bursting into a rousing pop-punk chorus and shifting into pure rock ’n’ roll with ska rhythms. It can be described as a fusion of Korea’s current wave of youthful bands, the global pop-punk revival, and 10CM’s uniquely candid lyrical style. 10CM’s venture into punk-tinged sounds proves both unexpected and remarkably effective.

The non-acoustic tracks on 5.0 fully embrace the spirit of a live band. “Monday Is Coming,” a collaboration with BIG Naughty, channels the retro new-wave energy of the 1980s Cars with the playful charm of 1990s Weezer. “CDEFG,” another highlight, reimagines the familiar tale of rehearsing a serenade for unrequited love with witty, fourth-wall-breaking lines, first previewed acoustically at the 2025 Weverse Con Festival. In its full band arrangement, it radiates a fresh vitality. Elsewhere, the disco-tinged “No. 1” and the theatrical 6/8 rock ballad “Follow Your Steps” featuring BIBI showcase the album’s dynamic range, while songs such as “How Could You Darling” and “Your Playlist” revisit the warmth of acoustic simplicity. Together, these arrangements underline 10CM’s ability to continually refresh his sound without losing his core identity.

At twelve tracks, 5.0 is one of the most expansive albums in 10CM’s career to date, with a music video accompanying each song. Beyond the music, the project reflects 10CM’s long-standing dialogue with the idea of the full-length album. Having once questioned its relevance after the success of his fourth record, he ultimately chose to present 5.0 in full at a small-theater showcase titled 4.99999999, emphasizing its dedication to fans. As a result, the album carries the immediacy of a live performance, less about catering to critics and more about sharing joy with listeners. Tracks like “Slave For You” and “Into Your Summer” seamlessly join his set lists, embodying 10CM’s evolving yet familiar charm.
